Welcome to St. James Family
At St James, we are a welcoming Christian community
made up of people from many cultures, languages, and generations.
We are united by God’s love, rooted in Jesus Christ,
and shaped by prayer, Scripture,
and the renewing work of the Holy Spirit.
Our diversity is one of God’s gifts to us which make who we are.
We believe church is not just a place
where different people only sit side by side,
but a family where we learn from one another,
worship together, are shaped by one another,
and engage in God’s mission together.
In our worship, we pray, read the Bible,
and sing in different languages and from different cultures,
including English, Tamil, Hindi, Arabic,
and other languages spoken by members of our church family.
We want St James to be a living sign of God’s welcome
— “a house of prayer for all nations” (Isaiah 56:7) —
where everyone can find belonging, friendship,
and space to grow closer to God, to one another,
and to the calling God has placed on their lives.

From September, we will begin a new Sunday sermon series:
The Kingdom Call: The King and His People.
The Kingdom Call is the call to follow the King and to become a people shaped by his character and engaged in his mission.
In this series, Matthew’s Gospel shows us what following the King looks like in practice: reconciling broken relationships, forgiving as we have been forgiven, believing and bearing witness, responding to his invitation, giving him our undivided allegiance, and serving faithfully with all he has entrusted to us.

From September to November (Christ the King Sunday), we are beginning a 12-week journey through Matthew’s Gospel under the theme
The Kingdom Call: The King and His People.
Alongside our Sunday sermon series, this daily reading plan invites us to walk through Matthew together as a church—listening to Jesus, discovering more deeply what his Kingdom is like, and learning what it means to be His people.
Each day offers a short passage, reflection, question and prayer to help us not simply read the Gospel, but allow the words and ways of Jesus to shape our everyday lives.
This is more than an individual reading plan.
It is a shared journey of discipleship. As we read the same Gospel, pray through the same themes and gather each Sunday around the same King,
our hope is that we will grow together into a people shaped by his character
and engaged in his mission.
Whether you read in the morning, at the end of the day, or with someone else, make space to meet Christ in His Word.

We give thanks to God
for a wonderful St James Holiday Club, held from 18–21 August.
Over the four days, 51 children from our local community joined us for games, music, Bible stories, crafts, food and friendship. Most of the children and their families had not previously been part of St James, and it was a real joy to welcome them.
Families expressed great appreciation for the care, creativity and safe space offered to their children. Thank you to everyone who volunteered, prayed, gave resources and supported the week in so many ways.

Sunday 10.30 am Holy Communion Service.
This is the main church service for everyone. it is structured yet ground-breaking and new. Songs are sung in multiple languages; the Bible is read in other languages and people are encouraged to pray in their mother tongues. This makes the service more welcoming and inclusive to people from different cultures.
PS. Arrive at 10am on Sunday for pastries/fruit and tea/coffee
or anytime before 12:15 if you are running late!
Wednesday 10.30 am Holy Communion Service.
A smaller number of people attend this midweek Holy Communion service. Once a month the service follows the “Book of Common Prayer.” The group has developed a link with the NHS who have been running health checks and chair-based exercises following the service.
